Hawthorne II Lake and the Geese

Remember! The Lake for walking, fishing, and other activities is reserved ONLY for residents of Hawthorne II, Hawthorne Commons, and Hawthorne Acres as well as Hawthorne I through a reciprocal arrangement.

The Board has tried various treatments designed to disrupt and deter the geese. Currently the Goosinator installed appears to reduce the presence of geese. The Board will continue monitoring as it’s a priority to keep the lake and path welcoming to our residents.

The Constitution Trail: Did you know?

The wonderful network of walking and bike trails (The Constitution Trail) has an access on Woodbine on G.E. Road.  From here you can walk and bike for miles around Bloomington-Normal.  Check out the Trail Maps here.

Library Bookmobile

The Bloomington Library Bookmobile alternates every 3 weeks at these stops near Hawthorne II (updated 12 Aug 2022):

  • A Week: #9 Eagle Crest - Amber Lane at Hillsboro Drive, Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 PM
  • A Week: #12 Eagle View at Tyler Trail and Lay Lane, Monday 7:45 - 8:30 PM
  • B Week: #10 Eagle Crest East - Connie Kay Way at Edgehill Road, Saturdays from 12:00 -1:00 PM
  • C Week: #21 Golden Eagle - Golden Eagle Road at Broad Creek Road on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Check the Bookmobile Schedule for more information. You can request books, video, and periodicals on their website and pick them up on the Bookmobile.

Hawthorne II Association Events
  • Association board meetings are generally held monthly (see the online minutes) 
  • Association annual meeting held in November (November 15th for 2023)
  • H2A annual dues are mailed out around March 1st each year and are due by March 31. After the due date late fees and interest are added.  See Online payment options.
  • City bulk pickup first week of May and October
  • H2A future garage sale plans are on hold

H2HA Board News

  • 2024 H2HA dues due by March 31st. Pay your 2024 H2HA dues of $375 by mail or with PayPal (with $10 convenience fee) on the Association webpage.  Late fees of 10% accessed.   Statements mailed out the weekend of March 3rd.
  • Annual H2HA Meeting held November 15th, 2023. View the minutes.
  • Check out new procedures for Bloomington Removal of Leaves
  • Toni Wudtke elected to serve as secretary to the H2HA Board.
  • Please report any incidence of vandalism. Call police or contact a board member.
