Hawthorne II Homeowners’ Association Meeting Minutes
April 13, 2022

Board Member Attendance

Don Read, Mark Clauss, Cherilyn Sytar, Don Sutton, Jeff “CC” Biggs
*Absent

Zoom meeting at 6:30 pm

Capital Improvements

Discuss landscaping options/bids Cherilyn obtained from F&W, J Jacobs, and Superior Landscaping:

  • • Refresh landscaping on south side of the dam.
  • • Refresh landscaping at Inglewood entrances

Cherilyn will obtain updated quote from Jeremy to better compare to Superior Landscaping. Will plan to share new information for board to take action on before next monthly meeting.

Don S will have Joe Bierbaum provide estimate for repairing/replacing the north inlet pipes and trimming the trees around the monuments.

Maintenance

Geese Deterrent – the Goosinator arrived and Don S assembled and has used effectively several times. The geese seem to have mostly left the area, but the unit doesn’t work well in strong winds so we have had to pick and choose when it can be used. Will try to find a time to demo/train more board members on operating.

Start-up check list:

Fountains are installed and working, main irrigation system will be opened next week, and the Acres irrigation will be opened later in early May.

Planning a neighborhood Work Day likely in late Spring for small projects like painting handrails, signage and light posts. Tabled to be reconsidered with more details at the next board meeting.

Financials

Review Budget and expenses – little expense activity yet. Did incur new service fee ($17.25) for depositing large number of checks due to the bank conversion to Bank of Pontiac. Waiting for new options to consider.

Annual Dues Progress – down to eight outstanding that I have not heard back from about making their payment. Will be sending out the week of April 18th late notices with the $25 late fee added

Next meeting is on May 11th

KEEP Hawthorne II LOOKING IT'S BEST: DO YOUR PART TO HELP!

  • Remember to place your garbage and recycle bins inside your garage or behind a screened enclosure. These containers should not be visible from the street or your neighbor’s yard.
  • Maintain your yard appropriately. The board has received multiple comments about poorly maintained yards including thistles, dandelions, and trees/shrubbery encroaching public sidewalks.
  • Keep dogs from running loose outside of your property.
  • Outdoor equipment should be screened from your neighbor.
  • Fences, gazebos, and additions need board approval prior to construction.
  • No above ground swimming pools, outbuildings, clotheslines or poles permitted.
  • Campers, boats, RV and similar vehicles cannot be stored on your property except within enclosed garages.
